Stacy Dolby

Stacy Dolby has had 15+ years of Martial Arts training… and counting.  Dating back to a Karate Club in High School, her interest was sparked and revisited many years later.  After being a Mom of 2, she suffered a bad knee injury and was introduced to Muay Thai as an alternative fitness source while recovering.  One class…. and she was hooked!   Now many years later, she is a well respected member of the MMA and Muay Thai community in Hampton Roads.

Coach Stacy re-started her Martial Arts career with Muay Thai, then later became a fierce competitor as an amateur Muay Thai fighter.   After a few Muay Thai fights, the love turned to MMA, and she soon fought professionally.  As the first Professional MMA fighter in Virginia, she has helped pave the way for future generations to make their mark. Now that her fighting career has come to an end, Stacy stays very busy in the Martial Arts community. She is a certified official and the only female MMA referee for the Global Combat Association, as well as a certified Muay Thai referee and judge.

Coach Stacy is the head instructor for the PRIDE Kids Muay Thai Program, as well as a coach for adult Muay Thai, Kore Kick, CrossFit and Kids Boxing.  PRIDE is her home away from home, and the staff and members are her family.  In her spare time, Coach Stacy is a mother of 3, plays on local recreation teams for Co-ed softball and Co-ed Beach Flag Football. She volunteers her time for her kids wrestling and cheer programs as well as her church community projects.

Mackens Semerzier

PRIDE Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is proud to announce the beginning of a new era in the Hampton Roads Jiu-Jitsu community.  Mackens “Mack” Semerzier will be officially joining the PRIDE TRAINING CENTER staff as an owner and head instructor of the Kids and Adults Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programs. Professor Semerzier is a well-respected fixture in the Hampton Roads martial arts community. He has competed in the biggest combat sports stages in the world; he is an example of the “FIGHTING PRIDE” of the entire Hampton Roads community.

Professor Semerzier received his Black Belt from the hands of 7th degree Black Belt Master Pedro Sauer in July of 2013. He was a dedicated student at Linxx Academy under the watchful eye of current Coastal BJJ owner and head instructor Professor Nestor Bayot and Linxx Academy owner and head instructor Professor Frank Cucci.  Professor Semerzier dedicates a majority of his success to the training and mentorship he has received from these two well respected instructors.  Professor Semerzier also trained extensively with Thai Boxing Association Certified Instructor Kru Ian Alexander and former Virginia Amateur Boxing President Robert “Machine” Matney at 7 Cities Boxing.

Professor Semerzier proudly carried the flag of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu into the MMA cage and proved the effectiveness of the “Gentle Art” against the best fighters in the world. Professor has competed in both the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) during his MMA career.  He is known as a “FINISHER” from his early amateur days in the regional area which followed hime into his professional career, impressively ALL of his victories come by way of submission or stoppage by the referee. He has carried that mindset into his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training and teaching philosophy. He is often quoted saying, “How real is your Jiu-Jitsu?” Professor retired from professional MMA in 2012 after winning the WKA featherweight title by second round submission to focus on finishing family and finishing his degree in business at Virginia Wesleyan College.  In 2014 he completed an extensive and detailed instructorship program at the Gracie Academy headquarters in Torrance, California under the instruction of Rener and Ryron Gracie. Combined with his years of previous formal instruction the manner in which he can command a class is second to none.

Professor Semerzier has a passion for teaching and sharing his real world knowledge with his students; he has been a professional instructor since 2004. He spends the majority of his mornings and early afternoons teaching all facets of marital arts to Naval Special Forces and Naval Security Forces in the Hampton Roads area. His true passion is teaching children and fundamental adult classes. He lives by the motto, “the first thing you learn is the hardest to forget”, which prepares children and adults to effectively handle aggressive situations in the most efficient manner possible.

During his leisure time Professor enjoys attending Saturday youth football games to watch his daughters cheer and attending church on Sunday.  He can be found smiling along the mats of local grappling tournaments as a referee, coach, cheerleader, and absolute division competitor. He enjoys competing against much bigger and stronger opponents to prove the effectiveness of his style of jiu-jitsu.

We all look forward to having the great energy of Professor Semerzier in the building starting October 1st. Current students are in for a treat, the level of detailed instruction and thoughtfulness put into every lesson taught is amazing. If you are not yet a student you are invited to come and try a FREE class. We are taking steps to build PRIDE Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu into one of the premier destinations for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Self-Defense in the area.

PRIDE Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at PRIDE TRAINING CENTER is a proud TEAM CURRAN affiliate.
